Well, March/April is certainly living up to its reputation of being the busiest time of the year, with all practitioners being fully booked for the most of, and into, the next few weeks. Sleeves well and truly rolled up! Some of our patients have been kicking some massive personal goals at the moment, footy and netball about to start, school holidays approaching - great time of year! It was great to join @woorinenfnc for preseason training this week. Lou took netballers through fundamentals including balance, proprioception, jumping and landing, reactive change of direction and landing with knee control strategies. The session also introduced ACL injury risk screening protocols and testing to help give each individual their own risk feedback, both qualitative and quantitative. Good luck for a successful and injury free season. 🎈 A birthday post. At 22 years of age, I moved home to Berriwillock from the city after a stint at boarding school, a university degree and a masters in Osteopathy under my belt - Central Mallee Osteopathy was born. I worked my butt off to grow something from nothing, where “the osteopath” was a new concept, with people more familiar with “that massage girl”. Knowing well and truly that I had hard work ahead, so much to teach people, and a reputation for it to grow. In a region with limited services, but plenty of wonderful people more than worthy of thorough, decent, generous and overdue care. Patient education over the years has been my main focus. That’s it’s not “who you go to see and what they do to fix you”, its more “how you can learn as a patient from that provider to change for the better.” Creating self motivated, self competent patients who understand their own bodies, and their own capabilities. Change nothing, and nothing will change. It’s the gift of knowledge that you can give, and how you can empower a patient or team with their own solutions after a visit with you. How you leave them feeling, not just physically, but in their mindset. After almost 10 years in practice, 1000’s of patients, 1 million phone conversations, online injury management to people in far out places, visits to clubs, groups, schools, doctors, hospitals, homes, townships, academies, universities, businesses and courses. Proud of the all the messages and lessons delivered, sometimes to the point with a swift kick, but it’s because I truly care and am passionate about what I do. I will do everything in my power to assist, or when unable, at least steer patients in the direction that’s required. Anywhere, anytime, from any place. I hope I’ve left my mark on you too, but if I haven’t quite hit the mark, I’m more than willing to work hard until the right outcome can be found together. Sometimes, referral is best, and there is no point wasting peoples time when a solution lies elsewhere. 32... Have moved into my high range gears when I didn’t even know I had a gear box capable... Picking up speed on what still feels like an uphill...

A new side venture whilst playing football in Melbourne herself, @osteosportsnetwork, aims to increase the skills, knowledge and confidence required by Osteopaths to work directly with athletes and in clubs. The goal is to increase the representation and awareness of osteopaths in Australian sport. Was awesome to be back behind the wheel last night with one of our favourites, Dr Nicholas Tripodi (Osteopath). Doing some great things raising awareness about osteopaths in sport, and contributing to the skills and knowledge required to work directly in clubs and with athletes.
